Founded in 1996 by three distinguished professors of Psychology. Formerly known as Wyższa Szkoła Psychologii Społecznej (SWPS). At present the SWPS University is the only private HE institution with University status in Poland, teaches over 16,000 students in campuses in five Polish cities, gives Ph.D. degrees in 5 disciplines, and post-doctoral (dr hab.) degrees in 2 disciplines.
