Founded as a primary school 1929. Served as a Large–scale Farmers training (LSFTC) college betwee 1965 and 1970. Converted into a Animal Husbandry and Industry Training Institute (AHITI) 1979. Taken over as a campus by Egerton University 1990. Became a constituent University College of Egerton University 2011. Acquired current status and title 2013.
